Read and Publish Agreements
“Read and publish agreements", often called transformative agreements, seek to shift the contracted payment from libraries to publishers away from subscription-based reading and towards open access publishing. With these agreements, authors can publish their accepted articles as open access without any additional payment.

  • SpringerLink and ADIS Collection: 2235 journals,
  • Palgrave Macmillan and Academic Journals Collection: 80 journals,
  • Nature Journals Collection: 46 journals will be available.
The Springer Nature agreement has been transformed into the “Read & Publish” model as of January 1, 2024, covering the period 2024-2026. The agreement covers Springer Nature Hybrid journals in the Web of Science (SCI, SSCI, AHCI) Q1 and Q2 groups. Articles of the "Original Article", "Review Article" and "Continuing Education" types written by the authors of EKUAL member institutions will be within the scope of Open Access support.

Articles submitted and accepted to the journals will be possible to be published as "Open Access" without paying the Article Processing Fee (APC), if requested by the responsible author. There is an annual OA article publishing quota. If the OA quota runs out, the author or the funding agency will have to pay the APC fee if they want to have their article published as OA. Articles will be queued in the order of arrival and those that meet the criteria will be approved by ULAKBİM for OA publication.

The list of journals for OA article publishing support (valid between 01.01.2024 - 31.12.2024) is attached. The Q1/Q2 list, which will be published in JCR on 01.07.2024, will be valid until 31.12.2025.

It will be sufficient if the corresponding author is an employee of an EKUAL Member institution and the name of the member institution is mentioned under its name in the publication. Using the corporate e-mail address in the article application is important for OA approval processes.
