Başlık (Yabancı Dil) The Synthesis of 1-(N-Para-Iodo-Orto-Methylphenyliminomethyl)-2-Naphthol Anahtar Kelimeler (Yabancı Dil) Schiff Bases ; Iodine Substitution ; Zeolite ; Electrophilic ; Halogenation Özet (Yabancı Dil) In this work the Schiff bases prepared from 2-hydroxy-1-naphtaldehyde and o-CH3 aniline are reacted with iodine in the catalysis of clinoptilolite (natural zeolite) in order to synthesize (1) iodine substituted Schiff bases. The reaction mixture is refluxed at 100°C in toluene and controlled by TLC. The reaction was stopped after 24 hours. The reaction medium pH was 5.0. The product (2) is isolated after several preparative TLC purifications and crystallization from ethanol. The isolated product structure is determined by elemental analysis, IR, UV, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and Mass spectroscopy. Under our reaction conditions it's found that the iodine is substituted to the phenyl ring of the naphtholic Schiff base (1). |
