İstanbul'da 19. yüzyılda sayısı 256'yı bulan ve bugün 43'e düşen endüstri yapıları, mimari, tarihi ve teknolojik miras olarak koruma altına alınmayı beklemektedir. Bu çalışmada, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu teknoloji tarihinin önemli bir bileşeni olan ve kentin fiziksel gelişiminde etkin bir rol alan İstanbul'daki endüstri mirası incelenmiştir. İstanbul'daki endüstri mirasının korunması için uluslararası kabul görmüş ilkeler çerçevesinde koruma ve yeniden işlevlendirme önerileri getirilmiştir. İstanbul'daki endüstri mirasının kapsamı, niteliği ve bugünkü durumu tablolar halinde sunulmuştur. Ayrıca kentteki endüstri mirasını tanıtmak amacıyla İstanbul'daki endüstri mirası için bir gezi güzergâhı düzenlenmiştir. Most of the industrial buildings were located in the capital city Istanbul. In the nineteenth century, there were 256 industrial buildings in Istanbul, but today only 43 survive. They need to be put under protection as architectural, historical and technological heritage. The industrial heritage in Istanbul is a significant component of the Ottoman Empire's technological history and has taken an important part in Istanbul's physical development. With this study, the industrial heritage of Istanbul has been recorded. Preserving the industrial heritage aims at keeping the specific features of the buildings, as well as giving them suitable functions which will let them merge with city life. The industrial archaeology is an interdisciplinary field of study. The project of protection and re-functioning of an industrial establishment should bring together specialists of restoration, architecture, historian of architecture and art, civil engineer, mechanical engineer, landscape designer, and city planner. Within the scope of the internationally acceptable principles, conservation proposals have been developed for the protection of Istanbul's industrial heritage. Specific features and the present condition of the industrial heritage in Istanbul have been presented in charts. Also, a tentative Industrial Heritage Route has been constituted to introduce the industrial heritage of Istanbul to a wide public. |
